Good episode! I’m definitely interested to see Gall Force now. I’ve only ever seen the feature film condensed movie version of Gunbuster but I do remember liking it. I’m definitely stoked for the Discotek new release of the original OVAs remastered with a new English dub. I’ve seen the 6-disc OVAs for Diebuster (Gunbuster 2) and really enjoyed them a lot; if they get similar treatment from Discotek (remastered with new English dub) I will be over the moon…I will probably not be at Otakon next year but if you go keep your ears to the ground at next year’s industry panel for more details! Re: Made in Abyss, I’m in the same position as Prede….I’ve seen the TV series and the two recap movies but still need to watch the 3rd film even though I did recently acquire it on Blu-Ray. Agree with the cutesy art style but WOW is this NOT for kids. What struck me too is just how powerful and amoral the White Whistles seem to be…though society lifts them up as heroes I don’t necessarily view them as good people….perhaps another effect of the Curse of the Abyss? Trading their humanity for power and fame? It’s something to think about.

Oh, respecting Vtubers, thanks for covering that, it’s an aspect of anime culture that’s on the periphery of my awareness. I’ve barely stuck my toe in those waters just watching the highlight reels of Projekt Melody on YouTube. I really like “Mel”, she plays at being pervy & lewd but mostly keeps it wholesome. The purple & blue hair is cute, as is the little band-aid she wears over her nose between her bright blue eyes. She hates dad jokes and bad puns so of course her viewers supply her with these in spades just to get a rise out of her…it’s pretty funny.
